Specialist Geography Expertise

Geography is a uniquely demanding subject. Students must combine secure knowledge with essay writing, data interpretation, case-study evidence, fieldwork understanding and synoptic thinking—often within the same examination paper. General tuition rarely provides the depth of subject knowledge and exam-board expertise needed to bring all these skills together.

I have over 20 years of experience teaching and leading Geography at GCSE and A-Level. As a former Assistant Headteacher, Edexcel examiner and moderator, I understand both how Geography is taught and how examination answers are assessed. I have extensive knowledge of AQA, Edexcel, OCR B and Eduqas/WJEC specifications and have supported students working towards everything from a secure pass to grades 8–9 and A–A*.

My approach is precise and personalised. I identify whether marks are being lost through gaps in knowledge, weak application, limited case-study evidence, poor question interpretation or underdeveloped analysis and evaluation. I then provide focused teaching and practice to address those barriers.

As a published author with specialist expertise in SEND, neurodiversity and adaptive teaching, I recognise that students learn in different ways. Sessions are calm, structured, inclusive and genuinely interactive. Students are not lectured for an hour—they are questioned, challenged, supported and given clear feedback.

Every session follows a purposeful progression: KNOW the content, APPLY it accurately and MASTER the examination skills needed to achieve higher grades. Students finish with a clear understanding of what they have improved and a practical next step to complete before the following session.
